Every couple years I go through a great unsubscribe.
It starts by selecting everything in my inbox and archiving it.
This year I was at 13,000+.
Nearly every automated email that comes in for the next few weeks afterwards, I unsubscribe.
Newsletters. App alerts. Notifications.
And if you send me a receipt for a subscription, I’m probably cancelling.
Not everything. Some newsletters I actually read. Some services I actually use. But the default action is “unsubscribe.”
It’s helpful every so often to declare bankruptcy and renegotiate the agreements I’ve made with the internet and reclaim my attention and money.
